What are your lenses made out of?

All of our goggle and sunglass lenses are Polycarbonate*. They are shatterproof, and are rated UV400 (100%UV protection). A special clear coating is applied to the lenses which blocks the ultraviolet (UV) rays. Obviously this is a transparent coating and can be applied to any color of lens including clear. *Our Polarized lenses are 1.1mm lenses that exceed FDA requirements for impact resistance.
What are the different lens tints you have?

Some of our eyewear comes with interchangeable lenses. That means, they come with more than one set of lenses so you can interchange. Other Birdz products come with only the tint that is in the frame. Be sure to look at the eyewear description to find out what lenses are included. We have the following lens tints:
Smoked | Dark tint for daytime (bright and sunny days); decreases sunlight without distorting colors. |
Clear | For low-light or nighttime, untinted for indoor or outdoor use. |
Yellow | For overcast days, increases visibility and depth perception. |
Amber | Enhance contrast, enabling you to make out objects/shapes more clearly because it blocks out the blue, or hazy, end of the color spectrum. Great for driving. |
Clear Mirrored | Clear lens with a partial mirror coating, used for both bright and low light. |
Smoke Mirrored | Smoked lens with a partial mirror coating. |
Revo Mirrored | Revo Mirrored lenses are a multi-layered titanium which provides a brilliant rainbow color. Discovered by aerospace engineers at NASA, these high-tech lenses have 12 layers of titanium dioxide and silica applied onto shatterproof polycarbonate. They are also scratch resistant. |
Amber Mirrored | Amber lens with partial mirror coating. Amber lenses enhance contrast, enabling you to make out shapes, objects, and bumps in the snow more clearly because it blocks out the blue, or hazy, end of the color spectrum. |
Rose Mirrored | Rose lens with partial mirror coating. Rose lenses enhance contrast, enabling you to make out shapes, objects, and bumps in the snow more clearly because it blocks out the blue, or hazy, end of the color spectrum. | RGB Lens (blue mirrored) | RGB lenses (reduced glare blue) are a light blue lens with partial mirror coating. Our RGB lenses reduce glare while enhancing vision. |
Light Blue | Light Blue lenses increase visibility and enhance vision. Great for overcast days, nighttime, and all low light conditions. |
Photochromic | Clear lenses that darken to a sunglass tint on exposure to ultraviolet (UV)radiation. Once the UV is removed (for example by walking indoors), the lenses will gradually return to their clear state. |
Polarized Smoke | 1.1mm Polarized smoke lenses. Eliminates glare and enhances constrast which improves visual acuity. |
Brown Lens | enhance the light quality of your surroundings while giving the wearer added depth perception in lower light conditions. |
Brown Gradient Lens | Brown lens which is shaded from top to bottom. They are tinted from the top down, so that the top of the lens is darkest; they're good for driving so that the dashboard and instrument panels are seen clearly. |
Brown Mirrored Lens | Brown lens with a partial mirror coating. Brown enhances the light quality of your surroundings while giving the wearer added depth perception in lower light conditions. |
G15 Lens | greenish/gray lens, remains a popular choice. Many believe this tint offers better contrast than gray, yet is more neutral than brown. G15 lens has a transmission rate of 15%. |
How do I order?

You can order directly from us if you are a dealer. If you are an end user customer, we ask that you please check our Dealer Locator for the dealer near you and try to patronize them if at all possible. We also have our eyewear for sale online to end users at MSRP prices only.
Are your items available in stock and what is the delivery time?

In most cases all items are in stock and are ready to ship the same or next day after they are ordered. We keep our website up to date on items that are out of stock. If for some reason we are out of stock on an item and the website is not updated, we will email or call you immediately.
What is your return policy?

Return requests must be made within 7 days of receipt of order. A restocking fee of 15% will be assessed to all orders. Please email us at service@birdzeyewear.com for a RA# and instructions; Product must be unused, same condition as received including all packaging and labels still attached. If the item does not meet these requirements and is still sent back to us, it will be returned to you. If you have any questions, please email us. We do not refund shipping costs.
What is your warranty policy?

Birdz products are fully guaranteed for one year from the date of purchase on material and workmanship. Upon receiving the defective item, we will repair or replace it, at our sole discretion. This warranty does not apply to normal wear, including lens scratching, accidental breakage, or worn foam. You will be required to show proof of purchase within the warranty period, so be sure to save all receipts or transaction records. A shipping/handling/processing fee of $6.95 (USA residents, $9.95 International) should be sent in with the defective item along with the form here www.birdzeyewear.com/warranty.php

How should I clean my lenses?
top
Always rinse off your lenses with water before wiping or cleaning. Even tiny particles can be abrasive when rubbed across the lens surface. Clean your lenses by using an eyeglass spray or just warm water and a little dishwashing liquid. Never use a liquid cleaner that contains ammonia as this will harm the UV coating. Use a soft, clean cloth to wipe the lenses. Never lay your glasses face down or they can come in contact with something that may scratch the lenses. Storing your eyeglasses in their case when they're not in use always helps to keep them clean also.
Are replacement lenses available for all of your eyewear? If so, where do I purchase them?

Some models do have replacement lenses and other parts available but not all of them. You can purchase lenses and parts from the store/dealer you originally purchased your Birdz Eyewear from. You can also purchase them online from us on our parts page at www.birdzeyewear.com/parts.php

What is the recommended
range for your Rx-able eyewear?

This means that the particular model can be fitted with prescription lenses. The Phoenix and Feather 2 have their own separate Rx insert
that can be purchased. These inserts are specific to each model and not interchangeable. The insert can be taken to any eye lab and fitted
with prescription lenses. The other models marked with the Rx symbol have been evaluated by a lab and can be fitted with actual prescription lenses into the frame from an eye doctor or lab.
There are prescription limitations with all of these models, as with any prescription eyewear,
so your eye lab or eye doctor will
be able to tell you whether or not your prescription strength is feasible. Please see the below suggested Rx range. However, please keep in mind
that each eye lab is different and some may be able to do a higher range while others may be able to do a lower range
than our independent lab's "suggested" range.

What can I do about my eyewear fogging up?
top
Keep in mind that NO goggles are "100% Fog Proof". Also for goggles with double lenses, this inhibits the lenses from fogging up. With double lenses, one lens is exposed to the elements and the other is next to the skin with a slight separation between the two. The separation is key in ski goggles because it does not allow the heat or cold to transfer easily between the lenses thus reduces fogging. Double Lenses do not guarantee elimination of any fogging or condensation between the lenses. See the below hints to minimize your chance of fogging. Venting and anti-fog coating are other elements which reduce the chance of fogged lenses. However, once again, no goggles are guaranteed to be "100% Fog Proof". The below situations affect fogging as well as extreme weather conditions. Here are a few hints to help you:
- Do not overdress. Be warm, but not too warm. Exercise, skiing, or any movement generates heat and if sweat is forming on your forehead, your goggles fog up. Take off a few layers until you are comfortable.
- The first thing to check is that the goggles fit your face correctlly. Goggles come in different sizes. Make sure you have the right size.
- Snow. If it is snowing and your goggles begin to fog, check to see if the snow has clogged the vents. If they are covered, the heat cannot escape so do your best to remove the snow.
- If your goggles do fog, never wipe them clean. Doing this reduces its effectiveness. Anti-fog treated lenses will heal themselves given time.
- NEVER take your goggles off and put them on your head when you are outside. Put them on your face, and don't take them off until either (a) they are fogged up, or (b) you're done riding for awhile. If they do fog-up, take them off, and let them dry on their own.
- Never clean your goggles with glass cleaner...that removes the anti-fog coating and only use anti-fog sprays or liquids on your goggles when the factory anti-fog coating has worn off or been removed.
- For eyeglass wearers, try putting on the goggles before leaving the indoors since this will prevent the glasses from getting cold. If snow/water gets on your glasses/goggles, blot the water droplets dry with a soft cloth. Even remove them and set them foam side down on your leg so the moisture-laden air can dissipate and the no-fog coating absorb the remaining moisture.
- NEVER touch the inside of googles with you hands. If so, you can mess-up the anti-fog coating.
- Loosen the neck of your jacket-up when you are in the lift line. Heat can rise-up from your body, and exit the top of your jacket. If your jacket is closed-up, the heat will go right-up to your head, and goggles. This can cause fog. Part of this is also to not overdress. Be warm, but not too warm. Exercise, skiing, or any movement generates heat and if sweat is forming on your forehead, your goggles fog up. Take off a few layers until you are comfortable.
- Studies have found that if you wear your goggles OVER something (i.e. hat, beenie, mask, etc), that the thinner the material, the better. If it something really thick, the goggles have to deal with different "levels," and can thus cause some problems.
